Project Overview

The intent of this regional plan is to serve as a blueprint for the future of the Nashua Region. Chances are you work in, shop, or go to school in a community outside of your own. A regional plan is helpful because it recognizes that many issues, problems, and opportunities are not confined by municipal boundaries. Transportation networks, housing and economic opportunities, and environmental issues know no borders. This plan strives to protect and enhance the qualities that make the region so special. It also offers strategies for addressing concerns or potential shortcomings, both current and forecasted, and seeks to ensure that all residents, regardless of where they live, enjoy access to opportunities to prosper, and participate fully in community and regional discussions.

Under RSA 36:47 (I), regional planning commissions in New Hampshire are required to prepare a comprehensive plan for development in their region and update it. The previous regional plan, The Nashua Region: A Story Worth Telling, was adopted in December 2014. The Nashua Region has evolved and seen many changes in the past decade, so now it is time to plan for the next ten years.

The 2025 Nashua Regional Plan focuses on the following topics: Natural Resources & the Environment, Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Community Facilities & Assets, and Economic Development. NRPC will be using a ten-year horizon for this update.

The US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) is providing grant funding to all nine regional planning commissions in New Hampshire for updating their regional plans.
